Cannes, France 5 October 2009 – KRU Studios appoints Epic Pictures Group, Inc as its Sales Agent.

In line with the opening of its world-class production & post-production facilities in January 2010, KRU Studios has appointed Epic Pictures as its Sales Agent for the global distribution of its slate of international feature films.  KRU Studios’ slate of international feature films, with a production budget of an estimated US$30 million, comprises of six (6) titles starring A-list artistes that will be produced over the next three (3) years, the details of which will be announced periodically.

Epic Pictures, headquartered in the heart Hollywood, is a worldwide film, television and video sales organization specialising in the production and distribution of unique and innovative feature films from independent filmmakers.

Norman Abdul Halim, President & Global CEO of KRU Studios, states: “The appointment of Epic Pictures was a result of our experience whereby Epic successfully closed pre-sales for our feature film entitled ‘Deadline’ (starring Brittany Murphy & Thora Birch) in around 30 countries to-date, including the major territories of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Germany. We are convinced that Epic will provide us with the synergies required to maximise the potential of our slate of international feature films.”

As part of its international aspirations KRU Studios has spearheaded such international collaborations such as Deadline, whereby production was conducted in America while the visual effects were done in Malaysia under the supervision of Yusry Abdul Halim as the Visual Effects Director. Currently KRU Studios is in the process of completing its epic movie entitled “The Malay Chronicles”. With visual comparisons and production methods akin to blockbuster films such as ‘300’ and ‘The Lord of The Rings’, ‘The Malay Chronicles” promises to create a motion picture experience that truly appeals to a wide audience, both regionally and globally.

Norman Abdul Halim, President & Group CEO of KRU Studios, further adds: “This complements the opening of our comprehensive production and post-production facilities. We are looking forward to providing a “One-Stop Solution” for end-to-end production of Feature Films, TV Programmes and Music Products, as well as an array of award-winning Visual Effects, 3D animation and audio post services. This will further strengthen our earlier international initiatives – “Deadline” (film division), Swedish rock vocal group “Ladylike” (music division), as KRU Studios will serve as home to the production of its slate of motion pictures targeted for both domestic and international markets, which forms part of our international strategy”.

KRU Studios’ state-of-the-art post-production facilities will be equipped with end-to-end High Definition throughput.  Its video post-editing studios are designed to cater for the entire gamut of productions, from TV commercials to full-length feature films, while the Colour Grading suites will result in finished products with a superior level of quality. This is further complemented with 3D Animation & Visual Effects facilities, and coupled with audio production studios including surround-sound mix, recording studios, programming studios, audio post dubbing and sound effects, ensures an end result destined to yield optimum satisfaction in both local and international arenas.

KRU Studios will also feature two (2) Sound Stages. The larger Sound Stage, with a size of 10,000 square feet and fully equipped with supporting function rooms including but not limited to make-up, wardrobe, changing, cast and multi-purpose rooms, is perfect for recordings and live productions with audience participation, as well as television and motion picture productions. The second Sound Stage, at a size of 2,500 square feet is also equipped with supporting function rooms and is a comfortable size for television and film needs.  Being located on a 15-acre land bank also enables KRU Studios the unique opportunity to offer its clients various outdoor locations for such filming requirements.

KRU Studios, located in Cyberjaya, Malaysia will serve as home to the further creation and development of KRU Studios’ Intellectual Property (catalogue of products), targeted for both domestic and international markets, which is in line with KRU Studios overall international plans.
